One happy family
Fun in the snow
by admin on Dec.21, 2009, under news
Wow, lots of snow this year in Holland (and the rest of Europe). It hasn’t snowed that much in years. I took that opportunity to take some nice pictures of my neighboorhood.
Because of the snow, there were no busses and trains in the morning, so I took the day off. If the train doesn’t work tomorrow, I would be able to get a week off. So, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow….
Japanese festival part 2
by admin on Aug.19, 2009, under news
Wow, have been quite lazy lately for not updating my blog. Well, here’s another post
Between the acts there was also an introduction of the japanese sumo’s. It was the first time that the sumo’s have ever visited Holland, so it’s quite a honour. Some sumo’s looked very familiar, but they seemed to be very famous in Japan. It was quite funny to see the Japanese (old) ladies screaming like “Oooh, it’s them, it’s them!” or “they are looking at me now!”. If you know what the names are of those sumo’s, give me a message.

Very big man
Japanese festival part 1
by admin on Jun.17, 2009, under news
In the city Amstelveen (the city in Holland where a lot of japanese resides) was a big Japanese festival. It seems there was a historical celebration between Holland and Japan. Not sure about the details though. There were a lot of performances, like taiko, japanese dances and sword demonstrations. But the biggest event was making the longest maki sushi of the world. Well, guess what, the sushi was made for the Guiness Book of World Records and they succeeded! It was 133 meters long in the end. Too bad they won’t give the sushi away for free. At least they give their profit to a charity fund.

Wanna have a bite?
Nijmegen

Last week, I went to the Nijmegen shopping district for the first time. However I’ve never expected it to be a beautiful shopping district. Just look at the pictures and you will know what I mean. It’s a cosy street with some nice coffeeshops (where you can buy real coffee, not the other crap), and above those store’s there are nice looking apartments.
Some apartments were for sale and out of curiosity I found out how much the apartment cost. It’s around 325.000 euro’s for 118 square meters!! Quite expensive…

Waiting for the spring…..waiting, waiting……
スピーチ大会
by admin on Mar.09, 2009, under news
Speech contest again!
by admin on Mar.07, 2009, under news
Today I participated to the 22nd Japanese Public speaking contest, organized by the Japanese embassy in Holland, and I won a special prize! Well, I didn’t won the first prize, which was a plane ticket to Japan, but I won a diner coupon for 2 persons.
I was quite surprised by the level of Japanese of the other contestants. Of course, some of them were beginners, but a few of them are very good, like they have studied Japanese for 5 years! And I haven’t studied anything yet, when I came back to Holland.
Well, I am gonna upload some pics later, because I want to sleep……
